In October 2006 Jacqueline had the opportunity to attend a Master Artist Seminar given by Robert Bateman in Yellowstone National Park.
During this course Mr. Bateman taught on a wide range of subjects, including painting techniques, capturing the essence of the subject, the palette, light, drawing and balance. Mr. Bateman gave a painting demonstration where he took a painting from concept to completion. He also led a photography field trip where he trained regarding hands on techniques for capturing subject matter and proper lighting. Mr. Bateman hosted several lively conversations on art related subjects and artist motivations.
Throughout the seminar Mr. Bateman related how he had used his art to bring attention to the issues threatening our environment. Sharing his passion for the natural world around us, he encouraged the naturalist in all of us.

Wildlife Master Artist Art Seminar with World Renowned John Seerey-Lester
In Late 2007 Jackie attended a Master Artist Seminar given by world renowned wildlife artist John Seerey-Lester in Osprey, Florida.
John gave instruction on a huge range of painting techniques, composition, lighting and abstract structure within realism compositions. Seerey-Lester also gave painting demonstrations on a vast array of wildlife subjects. Discussions were held regarding every aspect of the painting industry and artistic techniques. He spent time with Jacqueline for one on one instruction.
Jackie’s foremost goal when painting is to reflect (that’s where wilderness reflections comes in) what she experiences in nature. “A painting shouldn’t be only what you see, it should convey the experience you had when you where there.”
So, whether it be the wind moving through the trees, the sharpness of the sea air, or the quiet stillness hovering over the salt marsh; Jackie strives to convey the “feeling” of the site.
When it comes to painting animals (Jackie’s first love), Jackie captures both image and attitude. The proud confidence of a young buck, the eager glimmer in the otter’s eye, the haughty disregard by the bull moose or the nervous concern reflected in the mother seal’s eyes can only be felt and captured if you’re really there.
Jacqueline had the privilege of attending an intensive artist workshop with wildlife artist John Banovich in 2009 at his studio just north of Yellowstone National Park.
John gave intensive instruction on many aspects of wildlife art however; the focus of the workshop was on composition. Through his one on one instruction and tutelage Jacqueline achieved a greater mastery of composition, capturing the wholeness of the piece, telling an intricate and interesting story on canvas.
She took advantage of the trip to photograph and observe wildlife such as elk, wolves, bighorn sheep, mountain goats in Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks as well.
In 2010 Jacqueline had the pleasure of hosting and attending wildlife artist Derek Wicks premiere Atlantic Canada wildlife art workshop.
Derek has the special honor of being named the Ducks Unlimited Canada National Artist of the Year in both 2007 and 2010.
Derek instructed the group on painting techniques, color, color relationship, composition and how to create depth. Jacqueline made a substantial step up in her understanding and application of color theory through this workshop.
